Joseph Sakevich is Patent Attorney at NovoTech Patent Firm, based in Washington, D.C. As an experienced patent attorney, Joseph specializes in patent preparation and prosecution, with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and computer software and hardware innovations.
With a substantial background in patent law, Joseph has prepared and prosecuted patent applications across a wide range of industries, including electrical and mechanical arts, digital circuits, computer software, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), internet-driven technologies, vehicle innovations, insurance services, healthcare and pharmacy services, genetics/bioinformatics, optics, and network systems and security. His experience includes patent and trademark prosecution, research and client counseling regarding patent ability, landscape, validity, clearance, and infringement studies, and drafting, analysis, and counseling regarding best practices, contracts, and agreements pertinent to intellectual property.
Joseph’s legal career includes working as an Associate at Marshall, Gerstein & Borun and Factor & Lake in Chicago, being a solo practitioner generally working in Chicago’s burgeoning start-up sector, and developing a rich and diverse technical background while performing and managing thousands of patent research projects in the high-technology arts. Before joining the legal industry, Joseph received hand-on engineering experience while working as an electrical engineer at Raytheon and as a hardware technician at a sensory research laboratory.
Joseph earned his bachelor’s degree in computer systems engineering with a minor in electrical engineering from Syracuse University. He earned his Juris Doctor from the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Joseph is admitted to practice in Illinois, the Northern District of Illinois, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
