Jennifer Teng is a Patent Attorney at NovoTech Patent Firm, based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C., office. Her practice focuses on all phases of patent protection, including patent preparation, prosecution, patentability, infringement and validity opinions, and client counseling. Jennifer also advises on intellectual property management and international patent practices, drawing on her work experience in Japan.
Before joining NovoTech, Jennifer practiced at Reed Smith LLP and Ditthavong, Steiner, & Mlotkowski for 23 years. Her work spanned a wide range of technologies, including computer-based circuits and devices, telecommunication standards and systems, image analysis and pattern recognition, and semiconductor devices and processing. She also has expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning models, mapping technologies, mobility, satellite-based sensing systems, optics, laser-based devices, advanced display technologies, enterprise storage systems, medical devices, imaging systems, web services, e-commerce, and business methods.
Jennifer has a diverse technical background. She worked as a commercial attaché representing the Republic of China (Taiwan) in New England. She also served on the boards of several high-tech start-up companies. While working for the Electrical Engineering Department of Tsing Hua University, Jennifer taught laboratory experiments on electrical circuits and semiconductor processing. Her engineering experience includes roles at the Material Research & Service Organization of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) at the First Nuclear Power Plant of the Taiwan Power Company and as an optoelectronic engineer for the Tzu-Chiang Foundation of Science & Technology in Taiwan.
Jennifer earned her bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering, magna cum laude, with a minor in electrical engineering, from National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. She earned her Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in Boston.
Jennifer is admitted to practice in Virginia and Massachusetts. She is also admitted before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth and Federal Circuits and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
