Stephen (Steve) A. Becker is a Director at NovoTech Patent Firm and is based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
Steve advises companies on patent matters, with special emphasis on semiconductor electronics, analog and digital circuits, telecommunications, automotive technologies, business methods and computer-related inventions. He has extensive experience preparing and prosecuting US and international patent applications, performing intellectual property (IP) due diligence, preparing patentability, infringement, validity and freedom-to-operate opinions, and advising on post-issuance challenges and defense strategies. Steve has practiced engineering as a circuit designer at a major U.S. company and has for more than 40 years represented domestic and Asian companies in the protection of their intellectual property in the United States.
Steve is a widely published author on IP matters. He wrote Patent Applications Handbook, which has been published by WESTLAW annually since 1992, and the US chapter of Patents Throughout the World by the same publisher. He has lectured for the District of Columbia Bar Association, AIPPI-Japan, the Korean Patent Attorneys Association and the Patent Committee of the District of Columbia Bar, Intellectual Property Law Section.
Steve received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering.
Steve is admitted to practice in Maryland, Virginia (inactive), the District of Columbia, and before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
