Gregory Montone

Gregory (Greg) Montone is a Patent Attorney at NovoTech Patent Firm and is based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C., office. Greg assists clients with patent preparation and prosecution, and opinion work.

In a career of more than twenty-five years in the intellectual property field, Greg has specializedin all aspects of patent prosecution and opinion writing. He has successfully prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in a wide range of technologies, particularly in the fields of computer hardware and software, semiconductor devices and manufacture, display devices, electronic devices and circuitry, electro-mechanical devices, communication systems, automotive systems, defense systems, including radar and equipment for naval vessels, satellite and antenna systems, electrical power tools and medical devices. He has also written numerous validity,infringementand enforcement opinions. Within the field of patent prosecution, Greg has had extensive experience and success in handling appeals, reissue applications, reexaminations and interferences.
Greg’s previous legal experience includes being an Equity Partner at Antonelli, Terry, Stout & Kraus, LLP, based in their Washington, D.C., office and being Of Counsel at Roberts, Calderon, Safran & Cole, based in their McLean, Virginia, office. His in-house counsel experience includes working for AT&T, based at a semiconductor and microelectronics manufacturing plant in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and at the Office of Naval Research, based in Arlington, Virginia. Greg started his patent career as aPatent Examiner at the United States Patent & Trademark Office, working in the Security Division and specializing in radar and display devices.

Greg earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at Rutgers University, College of Engineering, and his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, at the Washington College of Law, American University.While in law school, he was the Book Review Editor for the American University Law Review.

Greg is admitted to practice in District of Columbia, Virginia and Pennsylvania, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
